Paraffin / Illuminating Paraffin / Kerosene
Greyhound Liquid Paraffin is one of the most affordable sources of energy. Liquid Paraffin is used by millions of people in South Africa and neighbouring African countries. Although mostly used for domestic purposes, such as cooking and heating, paraffin also plays a role in industrial environments. With many sources of energy to choose from, Illuminating Paraffin remains a popular choice due to its inexpensive nature as well as the appliances that it is intended for.
Greyhound™ Illuminating Paraffin is a petroleum-based thin and colourless fuel. Illuminating Paraffin is also known as Kerosene or Heating Oil and can be used to power heating systems.
Greyhound™ Illuminating Paraffin is highly refined light/middle distillate fuel that burns with a large, bright, smokeless flame with a minimum amount of wick charring and free from unpleasant odours. Having a low sulphur content contributes towards bloom control, an opaque deposit that can form on the inside of the lamp glass thereby reducing the illumination characteristic. In heat fuel applications, Greyhound Illuminating Paraffin provides maximum heat through clean and efficient combustion.
Greyhound™ Extensively used in wick feed and pressure lamps, stoves, refrigerators and heaters. The product can be used as a solvent in the manufacture of certain paints, varnish, polish, insecticides and weed killers. Due to its purity, it also finds favour in the agricultural sector where it is well suited for grain drying and also satisfies a wide range of commercial and industrial heat fuel requirements such as process air heating, heating of liquids in tanks and firing gas turbines.
