API GL-4 vs GL-5: Gear oils all include different levels of sulfur or phosphorous additive. The EP additive covers the gears and gets consumed by friction against the gears. GL-4 is typically used for vehicles with a high level of yellow metal because the additive corrodes such metals and roughly contains half of the EP additives in comparison to GL-5. The API sets the guidelines for automotive gear lubricants according to their intended use. The car operated at moderate speeds and loads will often use GL-4 oils in manual transmission and trans-axle applications. The API category GL-5 for gear oils designates the lubricant as appropriate for hypoid gears in automotive axles.

Greyhound™ G-Moto Gear Oil EP 90 GL-4 is recommended for use in manual gearboxes of passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and construction equipment where the higher additive level of a GL-5 oil would interfere with gear selection.
Greyhound™ G-Moto Gear Oil is a modern product that is particularly suited to the most rigorous service conditions found in automotive mechanical transmission (light and heavy-duty vehicles), agricultural machinery, and civil engineering and handling equipment. Not suitable for heavy-duty hypoid axles.

Greyhound™G-Moto Gear Oil EP 90 GL-5 is specifically formulated for the rear axles of passenger cars, light, medium, and heavy commercial vehicles, manual transmissions, and hypoid differentials, where an oil meeting MIL-L-2105B or API GL-5 is required. Not suitable for application where yellow metals are present.
