85W-140 Gear Oil (High Performance GL-5 and LS)
Greyhound 85W-140 Gear Oil range includes high-performance extreme pressure (EP) lubricants formulated from premium mineral base oils and advanced additive technology. Available in both GL-5 and GL-5 LS (Limited Slip) formulations, these oils provide excellent thermal stability, oxidation resistance, and protection against wear, shock loading, and deposit formation, helping to extend both lubricant and component life under severe operating conditions.
The oil forms a durable protective film, making it suitable for use in heavy-duty differentials, final drives, and selected manual transmission applications operating under high load and temperature conditions across commercial fleets, construction, and mining equipment.
- GL-4 – Moderate EP performance for certain manual gearboxes and synchronised transmissions where compatibility with yellow metals (such as brass/bronze components) is required (less common for this viscosity grade).
- GL-5 – High EP performance for hypoid gears, axles, and standard differentials operating under severe load and shock conditions. Not typically recommended for applications requiring yellow metal compatibility unless specified.
- GL-5 LS (Limited Slip) – Includes friction modifiers to prevent clutch chatter and ensure smooth, controlled operation in limited-slip differentials under high load conditions.
Use GL-5 for standard applications requiring maximum load protection, GL-5 LS where limited-slip performance is specified, and GL-4 only where required by the equipment manufacturer.
