Rubber Grease

Rubber grease is a specialist assembly lubricant for rubber components in hydraulic brake and clutch systems, where an ordinary mineral-oil grease would do real damage.

The reason is simple chemistry. The natural and synthetic rubbers used in brake seals swell and soften on contact with mineral oil, which leads to seal distortion, drag, fluid leaks and eventual brake failure. Rubber grease is built on a vegetable oil base that is compatible with those elastomers and with glycol brake fluid, so it lubricates assembly without attacking the seal.

Typical use is on caliper piston seals and dust boots, master and wheel cylinder seals, and clutch slave cylinder components during overhaul. Apply a light film to the seal and bore on assembly. Never substitute standard chassis or bearing grease in a hydraulic braking system.
