Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

www.greyhoundlubricants.co.za (the “Website” / “Site”) is owned and operated by Industrial Trading Portal (Pty) Ltd (“ITP”), 10 Tungsten Street, Isando, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, 1600. By placing an order on this Site you accept these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”). Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (“CPA”) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (“ECTA”).

2. Who these Terms apply to

We sell to both Consumers (B2C) and Business/Reseller customers (B2B). Unless a clause states otherwise, it applies to both. Clauses marked “Consumers” apply to individuals acting outside their trade; clauses marked “Business/Reseller” apply to business purchasers.

3. Definitions

  • Buyer: the person or entity purchasing Goods from the Seller.
  • Goods: products listed on the Site, including lubricants, greases and related items.
  • Seller: Industrial Trading Portal (Pty) Ltd t/a Greyhound Lubricants.
  • List Price: the current price list maintained by the Seller (subject to change).
  • Industrial Trading Portal (Pty) Ltd is the sole owner of Greyhound Lubricants products, trademarks and associated intellectual property.

4. Scope and acceptance

These Terms apply to all offers, orders and deliveries made by ITP via the Site or webpages directly linked to it. Any deviation must be agreed in writing by ITP.

5. Eligibility to purchase

You must be 18 years or older and have legal capacity to contract. Business/Reseller buyers confirm they purchase for trade and will provide accurate company details (and VAT details where applicable). You warrant that all information supplied is true, correct and complete. We may request reasonable proof of age/identity or business status (e.g., ID, company/VAT details) to verify eligibility and prevent fraud.

6. Orders and contract formation

All content on the Site is an invitation to treat only and not a binding offer. Your order is an offer to purchase the Goods listed. ITP may verify orders (including payment and fraud checks) and may accept or reject an order at its discretion. If ITP has not confirmed acceptance within ten (10) working days, the order is deemed declined. Examples of non-acceptance include: inability to obtain payment authorisation; stock unavailability; shipping restrictions; or manifest errors in price/description.

7. Prices and payment

Prices are in South African Rand and include VAT unless stated. Prices, promotions and discounts may change without notice. Delivery charges (if applicable) are shown at checkout. Accepted methods include Debit Cards (Maestro, Visa), Credit Cards (Mastercard, Visa), EFT/Bank Transfer, and Cash on Collection (where available). Card payments use 3-D Secure; we do not store full card details. EFT orders are processed after funds clear. If a manifest error is identified, we may cancel and refund the order.

8. Ownership, risk and title

Goods remain the property of ITP until payment in full (cleared funds) is received. Risk of loss passes on delivery to the address you provide. You may not sell, dispose of or encumber Goods before title passes.

9. Product formats, pack sizes and technical use

Unless stated otherwise, Goods are supplied factory-sealed in standard containers by
volume (e.g., 500 ml, 1 L, 5 L, 20 L) for oils and fluids, and by
mass (e.g., 500 g, 5 kg, 17 kg) for greases and certain pastes.
From time to time we may offer other sizes or packaging formats. On request and subject to availability, we may supply
custom or decanted fills (typically B2B). Custom/decanted fills are made to order and are
non-returnable unless defective.

Net content is stated by volume for oils/fluids and by mass for greases unless indicated otherwise.

Technical selection and compatibility: Lubricants and greases are technical products. Always confirm OEM specifications, viscosity/consistency grade (e.g., NLGI for greases) and application before purchase and use. Follow the Product label, TDS/SDS and manufacturer recommendations. We are not responsible for damage caused by incorrect selection, mixing with incompatible products, contamination, or use contrary to instructions.

10. Quality and appearance

Minor colour/appearance variations can occur due to display or manufacturing tolerances and do not constitute defects. The Seller warrants that Goods correspond to their description on delivery.

11. Cancellation before dispatch

You may request cancellation before Goods are dispatched by contacting us at greyhoundlubricants.co.za/contact-us. If already dispatched, the returns process below applies.

12. Delivery

Delivery is available within South Africa to a physical street address during business hours.

Turnaround: Orders are typically processed within 24 hours after cleared payment. Delivery is usually 24–72 hours on weekdays (excluding public holidays). Outlying/rural areas may take longer. Timeframes are estimates; third-party courier delays are outside our control, but we will communicate ETAs provided to us and assist with resolution.

Carriers: We use external courier companies (including The Courier Guy) and, where applicable, our own local delivery service. Tracking: We provide tracking details once available. Back orders: We may part-ship in-stock items and ship the balance later at no extra delivery charge, or you may opt for a refund of the back-ordered item(s). Certain products may be subject to dangerous-goods or area restrictions; if applicable we will contact you to arrange alternatives.

13. Returns, refunds and exchanges

What may be returned: For a change of mind we accept only Goods that are unused and in brand-new, resaleable condition – unopened, with every factory seal, foil and cap intact, in the original undamaged packaging, complete with all accessories and documentation. This matches the “new products only” condition of our published Google returns policy.

Return window: 30 calendar days from the date of delivery.

Days 1 to 7 – statutory cooling-off: Under section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 a consumer may cancel an online purchase without giving a reason within seven calendar days of delivery. No handling fee is charged in this period. You remain responsible for the direct cost of returning the Goods to us.

Days 8 to 30 – voluntary goodwill window: Beyond the statutory period we will still accept a change-of-mind return at our discretion, subject to a handling fee, which is deducted from the refund: 15% of the product price on canned and sealed liquid Goods (oils, greases, coolants, brake and hydraulic fluids, chemicals and aerosols) and 10% of the product price on all other Goods, such as dispensing equipment, pumps and accessories. You remain responsible for the cost of returning the Goods. Business and reseller returns are accepted at our discretion and may be settled by credit note rather than refund.

Transport and delivery charges: Change-of-mind returns are drop-off and for your own account. If you ask us to arrange collection, our actual courier cost is deducted from your refund. The original outbound delivery charge is not refunded on a change-of-mind return.

Not returnable for a change of mind:

  • containers that have been opened, or where any seal, foil, shrink-wrap or cap has been broken, pierced or removed – for greases, a pierced foil or broken seal on a cartridge, tub or pail means the item is deemed opened;
  • decanted, custom-filled, custom-blended or made-to-order Goods, including but not limited to zinc-free hydraulic oils, SHC synthetic gear oils, open gear paste and transformer oil;
  • Goods showing evidence of poor storage, contamination, or exposure to heat, moisture or direct sunlight;
  • parts that have been fitted, installed, or where fitment has been attempted;
  • electrical and electronic components once fitted or energised;
  • special-order, bulk and non-stock items obtained at your request.

Defective, incorrect or transit-damaged Goods: These are our responsibility. No handling fee and no return transport cost applies to you. Please report visible transport damage within 48 hours of delivery, with photographs where possible. We will collect at our cost and then repair, replace or refund. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, including the six-month right in section 56 to return unsafe or defective goods.

How to start a return: Email online@greyhoundlubricants.co.za with your order number, the reason for the return and photographs where relevant. We will issue a Return Authorisation (RA) number and instructions. Please do not send Goods back without an RA number.

Where to send it: Returns Department, Greyhound Lubricants, 10 Tungsten Street, Isando, Kempton Park, Johannesburg, 1600. Mark the package clearly with your order and RA number, and include proof of purchase together with a signed note giving the reason for the return.

Exchanges: If you ordered incorrectly and the Goods were delivered as ordered, you may exchange them provided every condition above is met. The 15% handling fee applies from day 8, and the delivery cost of the replacement item is for your account.

Refunds: Approved refunds are processed within 10 business days of the returned Goods being received and inspected, using the original payment method. If we are unable to fulfil your order for any reason, you are refunded in full.

14. Invoicing

We issue electronic invoices to the email address provided during checkout. Ensure your details are accurate.

15. Force majeure

Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform due to events beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, strikes, war, fire, epidemics, government action, transport embargoes, or shortages. Obligations are suspended for the duration of the event with reasonable extensions.

16. Privacy

We process personal information to fulfil orders, deliver, provide support, prevent fraud and comply with law. See our Privacy Policy for your POPIA rights and contact details of our Information Officer.

17. Intellectual property

All trademarks, logos, product names, content and imagery on the Site are owned by ITP or its licensors and may not be used without prior written consent.

18. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of South Africa. You consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of Gauteng, without limiting any statutory dispute-resolution rights. We may offer reasonable alternative dispute resolution on request.
