2 Stroke Engine Oil
2 stroke engine oil is burned with the fuel rather than circulated, so it has to lubricate the crank, rod bearings and cylinder wall on a single pass and then combust cleanly without leaving deposits.
That makes low-ash formulation and clean-burn performance the priorities. Products are typically classified by JASO grades for motorcycles and small engines, or NMMA standards for water-cooled outboard motors, and the two are not interchangeable. Air-cooled equipment such as chainsaws, brushcutters, generators and motorcycles runs far hotter than a water-cooled outboard and needs a formulation built for it.
Mixing ratio matters as much as the oil. Follow the ratio in the equipment manual, mix in a clean container before filling the tank, and do not store premixed fuel for long periods as the mixture separates and the petrol goes stale. Available in 500ml, 1L, 5L and 20L packs.
